They prefer to have traditional dishes as their meals on that day and the people of Barcelona love to have seafood on their table.
Except that seafood they also enjoy vegetable broths, roast suckling piglets, casseroles in their meal. When the time is close to midnight, all the people gather together on the street and wait for the midnight.
The inhabitants of Barcelona maintain some rituals on that eve like they eat 12 grapes at a time along with the 12 ‘gongs of the bells’ of clock. They admire it as the sign of the good luck for the New Year. The young members of the family celebrate the whole night with their friends. They love to party until the sun rises in the morning and with a drink of cava (Spanish champagne) they complete their celebration.
Fireworks & Events
The city loves to celebrate this evening in her way. They do not have any rituals of displaying the fireworks, stages or podiums rather the people enjoy this eve with their family and friends in a very simple way. Although you will be able to see the fireworks all over the city but it is not theirs customs.
One of the most popular places in Barcelona is the La Rambla. Even if you are staying their only for a night you need to ramble down the beautiful La Rambla. You really cannot miss one single glance of some of the Gaudi’s magical creation such as Sagarda Familla, Gothic Cathedral and La Pedrera etc. All these have some amazing and magical charm which will surely amazed you.
