This year Black Friday is 27th November 2020
It was in the year 1863, in the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln first declared a national day of Thanksgiving, that it became popular and is still being celebrated all over the U.S.A. this is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the month of November every year. However, the very next day of the Thanksgiving Day is considered to be the Black Friday. On this day, the entire United States of America starts shopping for their Christmas celebration. On this day, most of the American states celebrate a holiday, especially in Government sectors and in schools so that the retails experience a huge amount of profit. This Thursday to Sunday holiday series is the biggest shopping period in U.S.A.
Is the Friday Black?
No, the Friday is not black, but it is called a Black Friday because of a popular American phrase called “move into the black”. As this is the biggest day for the Americans to shop, or as on this day they shop most, all the retailers all over America face the biggest profit that they fail to reach even throughout the entire year. As these retailers face a loss till this day, it is considered that they ran in red or used red ink, signifying negative or loss. But the enormous profit that these retailers make, shift them from red to black ink, signifying positive or profit. However, the term Black Friday has also been considered to have originated from Philadelphia, where due to the heavy traffic and pedestrian crowd all over the city and in the shops and retailer, offering disruption and inconvenience for the people, there were marks of black tyres seen on the roads, so it was considered to be a Black Friday.
Why is Black Friday important
The Black Friday is very important for each and every American as all the retailers provide excellent rebates and sales and discounts. This drags the crowd to shop on the Black Friday. It gives a supposed idea of how the economic season will be. Everyone waits for the whole year to shop on this day as there is a huge sale in all the shops.
What do people do on Black Friday
Shopping is the prior aim for people on the Black Friday. The shops get opened at 6 o’clock in the morning. However, as people stand on queues to enter the shops prior to others, some shops get opened even at 4 o’clock or 5 o’clock in the morning to maintain the rush. The sales reach even 70 to 80% discounts. The aggressive crowd reaches the shops so early in order to get the best deals on the items before the stocks run out that they even stampede other shoppers resulting in accidents. However, not only shopping, as Thanksgiving, Black Friday and the following weekend offers a 4day gap from work, many people go to meet their families on this time. However, as this the most important shopping time among the Americans, it awaited by them throughout the year.
