Chinese community in San Jose decorates their homes and street with red colored papers and Chinese lanterns. Good luck and fortune messages are written on the lanterns. Doors and walls are decorated with red colored hangings. The Chinatown is dressed all in red. People wear red color on the day and gift each other with money and presents wrapped in red envelope and papers respectively.

Firecrackers are exploded throughout the Chinatown for all the fifteen days of celebrations to haunt the evils. Young people find their going to be spouses in Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations.
