Opening Night is the family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City Arts Council will host Oklahoma City’s favorite family-oriented New Year’s Eve Celebration; on the 31st December from 7:00 PM to midnight in downtown OKC. You will be enjoying numerous entertainment venues and spectacular NYE fireworks show at midnight.
On the 31st December, a certified, chip-timed course will take runners through downtown Oklahoma City, beginning and ending just north of the Myriad Botanical Gardens. This will feature live music from performers who are also playing at Opening Night later in the evening.
NYE Events
The Cox Convention Center will again be home of the Children’s Area, a place chock full of fun things to see and do such as face painting, an inflatable obstacle course and festive art projects in which your kids can participate. The Scavenger Hunt kicks off the evening at 7:00 PM at the Cox Convention Center. There will be musicians in the streets around the various venues.
Out on the streets of Bricktown, you will find entertainment such as a scavenger hunt, marching bands, dancers, clowns, magicians and more. The final countdown to the new year begins at 11:30 PM, and the NYE fireworks display will adorn the sky as the New Year arrives.
Get to Oklahoma City
Most visitors get to Oklahoma for NYE by airplane. Will Rogers World Airport located in Oklahoma City and Tulsa International Airport in Tulsa are the two major state airports for domestic and international air travel. Remember to book your flight ticket in advance to avoid any peak-time problems.
