Have you ever been in South America continent on your vacations? Spend your holiday with your dearest in a Latin American country always a great experience of your lifetime. If you are considering where your destination is for next coming festive season, I would suggest Mexico City. Mexico City is the Federal District, capital city of Mexico and seat of the federal powers of the Mexican Union.
It is a federal entity within Mexico which is not part of any one of the 31 Mexican states but belongs to the federation as a whole. The city has numerous travel attractions and celebrations waiting for you to discover on Christmas and New Years Eve 2025.
NYE Celebrations
One of the most exciting NYE celebrating places in Mexico city is the Zocala in Mexico City where substantial crowds gather to observe the firecrackers and midnight NYE fireworks. Locals and visitors can enjoy the vibrant live music performed in the main square. In other locations of Mexico people typically gather around bonfires, singing and dancing their way into the New Year.
Mexican traditional foods prepared for New Years Eve in both homes and restaurants include turkey, Tamales, Pozole, Mole (delicious with a touch of chocolate taste). And Bacalo, a dried salted codfish, and ponche, a hot fruit punch, are required to be compulsorily present on the platter. Also, toasts made up of dazzling cider are also highly endearing. The dinners are always accompanied with lots of music, drink and entertainment.
Sweet bread usually comes with the meal and it’s a tradition in Mexico to bake a coin into the bread. Then the lucky person who gets it is supposed to have good luck in the New Year.
Other than private dinners, many other NYE countdown parties are organized in formal party places such as discotheques, pubs, restaurants and hotels.
Other favorite places on Mexican New Years Eve is the beautiful Mexican beaches. They are plenty in numbers, with Acapulco, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas the most preferred ones. Right from the early part of the day of New Years Eve, people start coming in with their families or friends to have some good time by the sea before night celebrations.
Get to Mexico City
Most visitors arrive to Mexico City by air, to the Benito Juárez International Airport (IATA code: MEX, ICAO code: MMMX), situated in the eastern side of the city. The airport has 2 terminals, T1 and T2 being the latter mostly used for Sky Team airlines. Remember to book your air ticket earlier to avoid any last-moment disappointment.
Hotels for NYE
Being the biggest city in the country, Mexico City has a full range of hotels that can suite any travelers’ requirements. There are more than three hundreds hotels with great services and facilities for you to choose from. Several popular ones are Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City Centro Historico Hotel, W Mexico City Hotel, Presidente Intercontinental Santa Fe Mexico Hotel, Marquis Reforma Hotel & Spa, Intercontinental Presidente Mexico City Hotel, etc.
