Dubai UAE has beaten off Turkey, Brazil and Russia to win the right to host 2020 World Expo trade convention. Celebrations were held in the Gulf city on Wednesday 27th 2013 with firework displays at the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa, right after the official announcement from Paris. The 828-meter high tower was lit up with the stunning fireworks, while pyrotechnics also exploded at many areas in the coastal Arab city. As well a national holiday was declared by City authorities for all educational institutions across the country.
Every 5 years, World Expo Trade Conventions attract millions of visitors who explore and discover pavilions, exhibitions and cultural events staged by hundreds of participants including nations, international organisations and businesses.
The next coming Expo 2015 will be hosted by Milan (Italy) from the 1st May to the 31st October 2015 with the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. The most recent Expo 2010, officially Expo 2010 Shanghai China was held on both banks of the Huangpu River in the city of Shanghai, China, from the 1st May to 31st October 2010 attracted a record of 73 million victors to the event.
The World Expo has never been held in the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia (ASEAN) in the history of the event. And Dubai is the first Middle Eastern city to win the right to host an World Expo. There will be the world’s tallest commercial tower to be built in Dubai, within Jumeirah Lake Towers. It has been given the name “Burj 2020” in honour of the World Expo 2020.
According to Yahoo! News, there will be 227,000 new jobs expected to be created as a result of Expo 2020 win. In which, 40% of the jobs will be in the tourism and travel sectors, saids UAE officials.

An area of 450 hectares has been chosen as the site for the Dubai Expo 2020. It is located in between of the Dubai International Airports and Abu Dhabi, the capital of the Emirates. It will cost around $ 6.5 billions on construction of infrastructure projects.
